The Artist’s Way

"Leap, and the net will apear."  - Julia Cameron

If there are dreams and creative projects you'd like to pursue or revisit, join Kim Childs for her workshops based on Julia Cameron's life-changing books, The Artist's Way - a Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity and Walking in This World (for those who've done The Artist's Way). As a writer and musician, Kim’s desire to honor her own creative gifts led her to an intensive workshop on The Artist’s Way in 1997 (read Kim's story here). The book and process profoundly changed her life, which is why she now coaches others on this journey of creative recovery and self-discovery. The exercises in this bestselling book, along with group support and Kim’s experienced facilitation, will guide you to a life that reflects your passions and authentic expression. Kim offers 12-week intensives every spring and fall in Arlington, MA. Contact Kim for more information and see current offerings and student testimonials, below. Kim's Artist Way group was extremely helpful in bringing my short story to fruition. There’s something almost magical about the warm, compassionate, supportive and healing ambience that Kim cultivates in groups. Her guidance and inspiration were invaluable, and the shift in my relationship with my writing and my self has been life changing.
--Jan Jacobson, Ph.D., Writer and Psychologist

"I am so grateful to Kim for sharing her gifts as a most excellent Artist's Way facilitator! She offered a constant and steady presence that encouraged me and my fellow group members to let go of fear and flourish in new found creative energy. I now have a business idea and a sense of creative freedom and exploration. I recommend this class to all!" --Maryam Keramaty, artist and teacher

"I had read The Artist's Way multiple times on my own and appled its wisdom to my life, but Kim's direction gave me a whole new way of integrating this special work. Sharing it with others through Kim's warm and connective facilitation multiplied the power of the course. My group members and I grew so much together, and we continue to meet as friends and allies on our creative paths. I now feel freer to pursue my creative dreams and own my path as an artist."
--Jeanine Cerundolo, Writer, Social Worker, Educator and Explorer of Life Paths

"Because of Kim's course, I took a long-awaited, much needed trip to Europe and started to play the guitar. Six months later I'm still playing my guitar every morning and I'm starting to explore singing, too, and a little painting. It feels good to be following through and taking steps, knowing that I have lots of time and can just let things unfold." --RMS

"Not only did Kim's leadership spur growth in me, but her guidance led to the birth of a powerful collective. Our class continues to meet and support each other along the paths of possibility that Kim opened up to us." -–Robert Rogers, writer

Cinderella picture"Our group met with Kim on a weekly basis and what evolved was nothing short of amazing. Through her guidance, we grew spiritually, personally and artistically. We started to live our lives with more courage and renewed artistic goals. I would encourage anyone, even those who say, 'I can't draw a straight line!' to take this course." --Daphne Thompson-Addabbo, artist and bon-vivant

"Ever wanted to be a princess in glass slippers or live in a castle? Well, I did. Thanks to Julia Cameron, I got to be Cinderella for the many children at StoryLand! Doing The Artist's Way, I learned how to give myself the creative things I had always wanted, even those from when I was six. The world is full of opportunities and ideas again, and I'm excited to see where I end up next!" --Beth Cahoon, researcher, educator, artist

"Before the course, I pictured artists as magical beings. I was convinced I could never reach their special status. The course de-mystified what it means to be an artist. I now understand that, like love, hate, sadness, and joy, 'being creative' is another choice within the mood spectrum. All I need to do is allow myself to feel creative." --Ana Morales, writer

"The Artist's Way steered me back to an artistic path I'd ignored for over 20 years. In this intimate group setting I met peers who faced the same nemeses:  lack of self-confidence, long-discouraged dreams and emotional scars from previously unacknowledged creative wounds. Kim Childs is at her best helping her students encounter these common adversaries and patiently guiding them through remarkable recovery with encouragement, inquiry, and personal experience. Self-discovery becomes a daily event during the twelve week course as you see yourself and the world around you in a new, vibrant light. You won't necessarily toss your livelihood to the scrap heap and chase a life of artistic whimsy, but you'll discover how you can weave your creativity into your life as it exists right now." --Bob Marra, Lawyer and Resurrected Photographer

“Kim Childs has been doing this long enough to know her stuff. If you have any inkling that this workshop may be for you, I suggest you go for it! Kim creates a warm and safe space, with plenty of room for trying new things and lots of laughter.  She's a great listener with an eye for seeing creative seeds long dormant—even mine and yours!” --Bruce from LNM (Lawyer No More) Gardens

"At the beginning of the 12 weeks I was a blocked filmmaker. By the end of the workshop I had won a short film competition and now I am working on my first feature-length documentary. Kim's compassionate guidance, support, and feedback helped me to find patience with my creative process and to gently discover and ease the fears I had been clinging to surrounding my artistic work. I HIGHLY recommend Kim's workshop to anyone who wants to overcome creative blocks, renew their passion for life, and live out their dreams!"
--Victoria Merriman, web designer, teacher, filmmaker
